NeoCon 09

Getting up at 4:00 tomorrow morning to go to the NeoCon show. Can't wait to see some of the new trends and materials the office furniture industry is gravitating towards. I heard that calling this show "green" would be an understatement. I'll let you know.

SandingMan: After having been on nuclear subs with the US Navy for about 10 years, I thought fixing machines would be a snap. I was wrong. I started with Stiles over a decade ago as a tech in charge of service for Wisconsin. I was the guy that came running when your edgebander, cnc router, or beam saw didn’t want to play anymore. Then in 1998 we picked up our first sanding line. I quickly realized that sanding is unlike anything else in the industry. With an edgebander, if the machine is operating normally, and is in calibration, the edgebanding is put on correctly. 99.9% of the population can tell you if it is right or wrong. With sanding, even if the machine is perfectly calibrated, new sanding belts installed, part comes out and.. Who knows? You might get different answers from the first 50 people you ask. It is the only subjective thing you do in the shop. My goal here is to help make some sense of that subjectivity to bring some consistency of finish to your shop or factory. I hope this helps.
